Unlike a conventional “dry” timing belt, a wet timing belt operates inside the engine where it is immersed in oil. This can help avoid the cracking and deterioration seen in dry belts. But in reality, certain engines are still prone to premature wet belt failure—something many owners of Ford 1.0 EcoBoost, Transit/Ranger 2.0 EcoBlue, and the Peugeot/Citroën/Vauxhall 1.2 PureTech (also found in Toyota and Honda) are fully aware of. Our comprehensive Ford EcoBoost maintenance kit includes all genuine OEM components required for a full wet belt timing replacement. The kit features a timing belt system with tensioner, crankshaft seal, slip ring, PCV valve, oil pump drive belt, and HT sealant. The package also includes a new water pump, coolant replacement, auxiliary drive belt, oil and air filters, spark plugs, and Ford-approved high-grade engine oil.

Our EcoBlue full service kit is made up exclusively of genuine Ford OEM parts. It includes a complete wet belt timing kit with tensioner and guide, oil pump drive belt, oil strainer, crank bolt, and a new full timing case cover with 22 replacement bolts. We also fit a new sump, HT sealant, and replace the oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter. The service includes 8 to 11 litres of specialist Ford-grade oil for optimal performance.

Replacing the wet belt on a Ford Ranger is a complex and time-intensive procedure. To perform it correctly, the sump must be removed, which involves detaching the subframe, steering rack, gearbox differential, and driveshafts for full access.
Some garages may offer a quicker, cheaper option that skips sump removal. However, this is not recommended. Over time, wet belts deteriorate and shed material, which can block the oil pump strainer. The only reliable way to clean or inspect this is by removing and replacing the sump.
Skipping this step makes the job ineffective, as the oil system remains contaminated.

Booking & Turnaround Time
For all wet belt replacement services, we’ll need your vehicle for approximately one and a half days. This allows time for high-temperature HT sealants on the sump and timing case cover to fully cure before refilling with new oil and carrying out a final road test. This process ensures optimal sealing performance and helps prevent oil leaks after the service.
